New Acute Medical Unit Nears Completion

To meet the growing demand for urgent care, Shaukat Khanum Memorial Cancer Hospital & Research Centre (SKMCH&RC) in Lahore is constructing a state-of-the-art Acute Medical Unit to enhance and improve further the hospital’s emergency services. This 41-bed facility, designed for both paediatrics and adults, will operate round the clock to address critical conditions.

The current Emergency Assessment Unit is increasingly stretched, leading to longer wait times for patients in need. The new Acute Medical Unit will nearly double our emergency bed capacity, providing faster, more comfortable care while ensuring immediate attention for registered patients. Staffed by highly trained professionals, this unit reflects SKMCH&RC’s commitment to delivering high-quality healthcare for all patients, irrespective of their ability to pay. Our new Acute Medical Unit will start serving patients from July 2025.
